Mari Fujita teaches design studios in the M.Arch and ENDS programs as well as history/theory seminars and digital media. Mari's research currently includes examining the relationship between technology and technique, contemporary material processes, and the shifting role of the architect in the present cultural, economic, political, and technological climate.
Since 1998, Mari Fu j ita has worked in partnership with Oliver Neumann as Studio Fu j ita.Neumann. The firm actively pur sue s a diverse range of pro j ects. Through a dialogue between built and speculative work, teaching and writing, the firm explores the intersections between theory and practice. The firm is committed to the integration of contemporary cultural practices with design, and considers architectural practice to be an innovative laboratory synthesizing social, cultural, structural and technological concepts into a tangible, dynamic architecture engaged with its surroundings.
The work of Studio Fu j ita.Neumann to date has included pro j ects that range fro m s mall-scale gallery installations, building designs, and urban scale interventions. Pro j ects have been exhibited at the Cooper Hewitt Museum , the Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York and other museums and cultural institutions in North America .
Mari received a B.A. from Columbia University in Architecture and Art History, an M.Arch. from Princeton University , and has worked in both New York and Berlin .
